Call My Name AIDS Quilt panel making workshop April 28

The Names Project Foundation visits Chicago's TPAN to create new panels for The AIDS Memorial Quilt, "Call My Name" Campaign. aChurch4Me MCC, TPAN, and the Names Project are hosting on Saturday April 28. The workshop is free and open to the public.

"Call My Name", an arts outreach initiative designed to draw attention to a public health crisis.

On April 28th, The Names Project Foundation will bring their passion and agent of change spirit to TPAN for panel making workshops for The Quilt. The Quilt is composed of more than 47,000 individual 3 x 6 foot panels, each one commemorating the life of someone who has died of AIDS. These panels come from every state in the nation, every corner of the globe and they have been sewn by hundreds of thousands of friends, lovers and family members into this epic memorial, the largest piece of ongoing community art in the world.

The workshops have been designed to draw attention to a public health crisis, by fostering the creation of new panels for The Quilt made by African Americans in honor of their friends, family and community who have died of AIDS.

aChurch4Me MCC is a Community liason with TPAN providing volunteers to assist with the panel making. All materials are provided. Attendees are encouraged to arrive for orientation at 12 pm.

The Names Foundation "Call My Name Campaign" is to build awareness within the community and to create more panels in memory of loved ones lost to HIV/AIDS.
